PICKLING AGENTS
Pickling agents serve as a chemical treatment of stainless steel and aluminium alloys after welding with the MIG/MAG and TIG methods. They are excellent at removing blooms and fire scales, which have been formed during the welding of stainless steel elements eliminating the need of mechanical cleaning. In the case of aluminium elements, pickling serves mainly as a preparation of the surface to be painted.
Pickling agents are divided
– according to the treated material:
— used for pickling of stainless steel,
— used for pickling of aluminium alloys;
-according to the consistency:
— pickling pastes (gels),
— pickling solutions.
PICKLING OF STAINLESS STEEL
PICKLING PASTES PT-1 and PT-2
The paste is used to chemically treat stainless steel after welding. It is excellent at removing blooms and fire scales which have formed during the welding of stainless steel elements. The paste is in a gel form which is applied with a brush. The thixotropic feature of the gel gives you the possibility to apply it also on vertical surfaces. We offer the paste with a neutralizing paste as a set. This is recommended as the pickling paste and the paste residue are toxic and corrosive. The neutralizing of the residual pickling paste on the metal surface protects the worker from toxic substances and burning. The compounds formed during the neutralizing are inactive and neutral to humans and its surrounding. The pickling paste does not contain chlorides. PT-1 and PT-2 serve the same purpose but they differ in the pickling speed.
PICKLING OF ALUMINIUM
This is not available in a paste form. It is used with a spray method or with a paintbrush.
Warning! The PT-ALU solution is toxic similar to the PT solution and PT-1/2 .
PASSIVATING SOLUTION
PASSIVATING SOLUTION PPAS for stainless steel.
This serves as an accelerant during stainless steel passivating after pickling or machining. PPAS Solution is nontoxic.
NEUTRALIZING AGENT
A neutralizing paste PN-1 is not necessary during the pickling process. It serves only as a residual neutralization after pickling or passivation. The nascent sediment while neutralizing is nontoxic. To apply the PN-1 paste you can use a paintbrush or pour the PN-1 paste into the washings.
